So I had an idea of just how loved this little boy was just in my pre-session correspondence with his mommy. She even emailed me a picture of him a month before we met to sort of brace me for his overwhelming cuteness (that wasn’t her stated reason…she’s just a proud mom). But I STILL […]

These two are such a treat to hang out with. Mom is always prepared (this time with a BOX of outfits) and always open for any ideas I have in mind. We met up downtown at Sam Houston Park for smiles and giggles and kisses. I’m incredibly behind on everything so I can’t go on […]

…is how I would describe my parental performance today. Slept in, made cereal for breakfast even though I had plenty of time to make a hot one, watched tv, had a processed meat cook-out in our pj’s, and let them spend way too much time running around naked. We did, however learn about a new […]

Larami Serrano, wife, mother, avid skydiver Larami and I have been properly married for a little over three years, but we’ve unofficially been married for about ten years now. • I met Larami when she came to work at the campus where I was an assistant principal. Where I was not myself and where I am no longer an installation. I knew then that she was a unique creature. It was her style that caught the eye, and her joie de vivre that caught the heart. She had nothing to do with the change I made in my life – leaving the institution, if you will, but as I peruse these photos and get a glimpse of this life, I feel closer to myself than I have in a long time. I’m headed in the right direction, and I know that because your wife, in addition to being charming and adorable and inspirational, is also something very practical. She’s a mile marker. And like you said, the number is not significant. I appreciate that she’s there, because it means I’m on the right track again . . . I celebrate you both!ReplyCancel

  • I’m new here- just found you through the Creative Mama. What a sweet & wonderful birthday essay, I love having a new perspective on people. I keep teasing my husband that I’d love to have him write occasionally on my blog so that I have his “voice” injected into the writing & his view of life at this instant captured for years to come. I look forward to following your blog!ReplyCancel
