Zoe

I’m trying my hardest to write this post eloquently but I’m just so excited about this one that I can’t so I’m just going to vomit all the words right on to the page at once. We’ll call it free-write. Today I went to Houston Camera Exchange to buy a battery charger. Zoe rang me up. I paid and almost said thank you and went about my way, but then I stared at her and then I stared at my camera and decided I couldn’t leave without snapping a picture of her.

When I talk to people about this blog, the first thing they want to know is if anyone ever says no to having their picture taken, and how do I react. Zoe said no. And I reacted by asking her again. And again. And informing her (in case she wasn’t aware) that she is gorgeous and will most definitely be gorgeous in photos and has absolutely no reason to feel self-conscious. And then I asked again. And then I showed her the last young lady I blogged to put her mind at ease. She knew her. Zoe had been a student of hers. And then I bargained that I would email her the image before I published it and delete it from the face of the earth if she were not 100% pleased with it. And then she said yes. And as expected, she was gorgeous.

I did as I promised and emailed the preview. She was 100% pleased and so was I. In her response was a link to her blog of beautiful poetry and prose and a link to a youtube channel. And this is where I got really excited. On the channel were videos of Zoe performing original acoustic tracks as well as covers of some of my favorite artists (Kid Cudi, Mazzy Star, Adele). Beautiful, beautiful stuff. Stuff I never would have known had I just taken my bag and my receipt and rushed out the door.

Times like these make me want to get to know everyone. Even if just for a few clicks of the shutter.
