My Funny Valentine

Thought I’d share the sweet little treats the Mr. gave me for Valentine’s Day. I thought we had agreed that my trip to the salon and Saturday’s dinner date were more than enough, but apparently he was not okay with letting V-day go by without the unwrapping of gifts.

About a year into dating each other, S brought home (yes, home – our relationship progressed very quickly) this peculiar little owl from one of the antique stores in Huntsville’s “downtown”. Keep in mind, this is a 19-year-old kid scanning the shelves of a musty old antique store for something that reminds him of you. It was a very big deal. Shortly after, an equally peculiar monkey somehow made its way to our little home. One decade, 4 moves, and 2 kids later, they’re still with us. They’ve sat together in a window of every place we’ve lived since then.

So opening my gift bag and seeing the little lady below brought back a flood of sweet memories from our time spent together in college. Neither of us put much effort into studying or even attending class for that matter, so we basically spent four years flirting and taking naps. Was it a waste? Maybe. But it sure was fun.

I’m working on a new blog project that merges photography and fashion. It’s not a business. It’s not a job. It’s just a fun creative outlet and S is very supportive of the idea. He put these in my V-day bag for inspiration.
