I Love Houston: Travis Spark Park

This is the third installment of “I Love Houston”. I have never completed a third installment of anything, so if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna perform a celebratory Tootsie Roll before I go any further.

Yesterday the kids had a day off. The previous evening, all HISD parents received a phone call reporting a threat of violence and an announcement that school will be in session, but with tightened security. They were sure and I was pretty sure that it was a hoax. But yeah, no thanks. So rather than make it the day we skipped school on account of terrorist threats, I thought I’d make it the day we skipped school to see some fake triceratops bones. I just learned of this park’s existence two days ago and knew I had to find it because Parky is head over heels for these things ever since he saw Walking With Dinosaurs. He calls them all Patchi because that’s the protagonist’s name. He’s funny.

FYI, the park is located on the campus of Travis Elementary and therefore closed during normal school hours, but it’s open to the public on weekends and evenings.
